  • Marylebone Gin is the new venture from Johnny Neill of Whitley Neill and J.J Whitley
  • Some batches distilled in what may be London’s most central distillery
  • Super-premium spirit clocks in at 50.2% ABV and retails at over £50
  • Floral botanical blend inspired by the Marylebone Pleasure Gardens, a long-lost attraction of Georgian England

Newly launched Marylebone Gin, distilled in what might be London’s most central distillery, has been selected as Craft Gin Club’s July Gin of the Month.

The brainchild of veteran distiller Johnny Neill — who masterminded both the Whitley Neill and J.J. Whitley brands — batches of Marylebone Gin is distilled at Bar 108 in the Marylebone Hotel. At 50.2% ABV, it is among the strongest gins that Craft Gin Club has sent its members, and has a recommended retail price of more than £50.

Inspired by the Marylebone Pleasure Gardens, a popular attraction in Georgian London that has long since been built over, Marylebone Gin’s botanical blend is soft and floral. Chamomile, lemon balm, lime flower, grapefruit peel, sweet orange peel and liquorice meet classic gin botanicals in this gin bursting with the scent of flowers.

Founder and distiller Johnny Neill says: “The Marylebone Pleasure Gardens gave me the inspiration to explore botanicals that are a little more floral in their outlook. We’ve developed something balanced and delicate, where the botanicals work in harmony, but also a spirit with a certain robustness.”

Also in their July Gin Box, Craft Gin Club members will discover a 500ml bottle of beautifully pink Franklin & Sons Pink Grapefruit Tonic, a miniature of Whitley Neill Rhubarb and Ginger Gin, Pipers Crisps Burrow Hill Cider Vinegar & Sea Salt Crisps and a delicious bar of Mella’s Irish Butter Fudge.

July’s edition of Ginned! Magazine also includes an extra sweet treat: the recipe for Gin and Tonic jelly and ice cream, a deliciously grown-up twist on a classic summer indulgence (please contact [email protected] for further details).

John Burke, commercial director and co-founder of Craft Gin Club, says: “At 50.2% ABV, Marylebone Gin certainly packs a punch, but rarely has our selection panel tasted a gin as smooth as the spirit in this beautiful blue bottle. We know our members will love their July Gin of the Month boxes, which are as colourful as the pleasure gardens that inspired it.”
Jon Hulme, managing director and co-founder of the Craft Gin Club, added: “This gin is distilled in the heart of London, right around the corner from Craft Gin Club HQ. We’re so excited to show our members one of our favourite neighbourhoods in the world, especially through such a well-crafted spirit!”
